Professor KIM Youn Sang (Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology) has developed a transparent element which generates enough electricity to light an LED when it touches water. When a water drop touches the surface of an object with electric charge, a change in the object’s electric charge occurs. Professor Kim succeeded in turning this change into electric energy, generating as much as 0.42? per water drop. The possibility of such electricity generation has been proposed before, but scholars did not give much weight to the thought as most believed only a minimal amount of energy could be produced. Professor Kim’s work has significantly increased the amount of energy that may potentially be generated.
