He attended Julliard on William Petschek Piano Scholarship and graduated with both a Bachelors and Masters degree. In 1980, he became the first recipient of the Gina Bachauer Memorial Competition. He was also awarded the Silver medal for the Three Rivers International Piano Competition and in the Washington International Piano Competition finals, won his award with ovation from the audience and adjudicators. After his successful accompaniment of the Baltimore Symphony and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, he again receives a full scholarship from Peabody Conservatory.
